Transparency on safety aspects and use of glyphosate-containing herbicides in Europe

Des scientifiques internationaux prennent position sur l’étude du maïs GM et du glyphosate dans l’alimentation animale

The study of Gilles-Eric Séralini has sparked a public debate concerning the results of his work on possible health effects of GM maize and glyphosate as a herbicide. According to Seralini et al., feeding trials in rats prove a carcinogenous impact of GM maize and glyphosate in mammals. However, numerous scientists have found deficiencies in the experimental design and analysis of the study which are discussed in a recent publication of the journal Transgenic Research. The authors of this publication state that the work from Séralini at al. ignores the minimal standards of scientific and ethical conduct  and alert that such approaches may cause severe damage to the credibility of science.

Study: Plurality of opinion, scientific discourse and pseudoscience: an in depth analysis of the Séralini et al. study claiming that Roundup™ Ready corn or the herbicide Roundup™ cause cancer in rats. In: Transgenic Research (February 2013).
